You may not know but Early Learning Ventures (ELV) is actually a part of a larger network—starting with the Merage Foundations. The Merage Foundations is the philanthropic arm of, Consolidated Investment Group (CIG). Being a part of CIG family, there are seven cornerstones that we all use together as driving force behind our daily work: We Show Respect, We Drive For Excellence, We Are Accountable, We Create A Better World, We Embrace Innovation, We Work Collaboratively, and We Have Fun.

Here at ELV, we work every day–both individually and as team–to embrace these cornerstones at the core of our work. We will be highlighting all seven of the cornerstones in a series of monthly blogs.

For June, we’re highlighting We Work Collaboratively. Quarterly, all ELV staff comes together to meet. The Family Support Specialists (FSS) team meets quarterly working vigorously toward earning their Family Development Credential. Their trainings consist of brainstorm sessions, interactive learning techniques and discussions, and chapter book sessions. This credential helps our FSS team learn more about different family dynamics and how to best support the culturally diverse families they work with daily.

In addition, the Quality Child Care Partnerships (QCCP) team meets quarterly to review and discuss goals. This team’s focus is largely on Early Head Start (EHS) performance standards and the quality improvement of child care centers and homes. The QCCP team consists of FSS, Quality Improvement Specialist (QI’s), and the Leadership Team. Most of this team is remote, so these in-person meetings are crucial and are focused on open discussions, trainings, and reviewing new policies and procedures. The QCCP team also just underwent their first federal review this past spring and are ramping up for the new program year this fall.

Finally, all of ELV–the Resource Center, QCCP team, and the Leadership Team–meet quarterly. These meetings consist of implementing new ways of effective communication, resource center updates, Emergenetics trainings, Leadership Team presentations, updates from Human Resources, as well as addressing ELV-wide questions and concerns.

At the end of the day, even though there are several smaller teams within ELV, we all come together to collaborate and work as one. Although we are Early Learning Ventures, we are a part of the Merage Foundations and the CIG family. Together, at CIG and the Merage Foundations, we are all making a difference by working collaboratively to meet and exceed our goals.
